Preserve originals

Organise copies without overwriting originals. Keep uncropped scans and record where originals are stored. An initial enquiry needs only approximate quantity and condition, not private originals.

Add short notes

Record people, approximate year, place and story. Mark unknowns for verification and keep relationships between versions. File names alone do not establish historical facts.

Agree rights and restoration limits

Identify ownership and people who should remain private. Agree restoration limits. Generated details are not original records and should be labelled where needed.

Use this guide to prepare a conversation. It does not replace a project quote, rights review or agreement. Bring your purpose, approximate material quantity and timing to discuss a suitable plan.
